Electronic Services Available
The transfer of data between First Coast Service Options (FCSO) and both hospitals and doctors is vital. As a result, FCSO provides the most current national specifications for the electronic applications listed below. Typically a programmer can take these specifications and develop the electronic application for use in transmitting the respective data for their clients that submit claims to FCSO.
Claims Submission
Claims for services rendered can be submitted in one of the national formats provided. An electronic acknowledgement confirming the receipt of your electronic claims is sent back to you upon completion of transmission.
Claims Remittance
Payment information related to claims submitted can be retrieved. Many providers of service use this application and have their practice management system vendors map this directly into their accounts receivable system, which eliminates the need to manually enter this data.
Claims Status
If you submit Medicare B claims to FCSO, this application can be used to obtain a listing of claims that show as pending in the FCSO system for more than 13 days.
Funds Transfer
This is very similar to direct deposit offered by the banking industry. By completing the necessary paperwork, the payment for services rendered will be automatically forwarded to a provider's account versus waiting for the check to be received in the mail.
Eligibility
Basic eligibility information (such as identifying if the patient has HMO coverage versus traditional Medicare coverage) can be obtained using this application. Responses to eligibility requests are available for pickup the next day after the request is submitted.
